This presentation discusses a project in the Boulder Creek Watershed that weaves together watershed and stream planning and management. Anticipating and planning for the effects of sediment is important information for pre- and post-wildfire planning and response. This project's purpose was to identify sediment sources as well as the locations--the "pockets"--in the Boulder Creek Watersheds that are (or could with the help of floodplain restoration, be) natural sediment deposition areas. Understanding these areas as well as where no depositional pockets exist, can allow for a more holistic understanding of both forest and stream restoration projects.
